Abstract

Relations between sound elements (music) and visual elements (images) go back to the origins of cinema. Although it may seem incongruous, the first-born silent films started to establish the first steps in this relationship. In this paper, we approach the film Donnie Darko (Donnie Darko, Richard Kelly, 2001) in order to analyze the importance of choosing a particular song to illustrate the images, as well as the growing integration of the aesthetics of music videos in today’s cinema.
