Abstract

From a shift in David Lynch’s narrative style it is possible to establish a new stage in the filmmaker’s production. It starts with Lost Highway, in which we find features that shape it as a mind-game film following Thomas Elsaesser’s theory. This article analyses the narrative strategies and the most outstanding elements involved in the construction of the film, as well as the filmic models, in order to elucidate the hints that must be taken into account in the reconstruction of the story carried by the spectator.
